"breathtaking in its inhumanity"

The judge gave this woman near the maximum penalty for negligent homicide because of the recording of her laughing at having killed the person.

I have often thought that the best and easiest way for someone to be inhumane to another is to pretend that the other person is not human, or less than human...you see it over and over again -- when people are enslaved or "eliminated," the rhetoric is always about monkeys or swine...

This example is just a small instance of something that can be very dangerous on a large scale.

The judge found a telephone conversation between Arrington and an unknown male friend, a week after L'Ecuyer was killed, to be "breathtaking in its inhumanity."

During the conversation, the man told Arrington that an acquaintance believed she should get a medal and a parade because she had "taken out" a "tree hugger, a bicyclist, a Frenchman and a gay guy all in one shot." Arrington laughed. When the man said he knew it was a terrible thing to say, she responded, "No, it's not."

More on Swann St

  • Aug. 30th, 2006 at 2:25 AM
Sounds like the police are nearly done with the Swann St house and that FBI results are due back this week. The article mentions that the police tore the house up (including taking pieces of floor and walls) with them.

Also, all the residents have agreed to provide DNA samples, and two have already done so.
So, now is the time to make my prediction. This is strictly an opinion, and we'll have to wait to see how the truth actually plays out.

****I removed the original content here because I got an anonymous text message (while I was in Paris!) that made me think think that my speculation hurt the Wone family. Now that others besides my family and friends are reading this journal, my speculations reach a wider audience, so it's best that I not speculate. ***

The bad thing is that Joe and Victor do not have the legal right to be married, so they will end up having to testify against each other in court. That could be why they got lawyers so quickly.
